  • Keystone Again Selected as One of the Nation's Top Military Friendly Schools

Posted: 09/12/2011

2012 Military Friendly Schools LogoLa Plume – For the third consecutive year, Keystone College has been included on a national list of Military Friendly Schools, ranking among the top 20 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools in the nation that are doing the most to recruit and retain students with military experience.

The 2012 list was released recently by G.I. Jobs Magazine, published by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business based in Coraopolis, Pa. The selection of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research during which G.I. Jobs polled over 8,000 colleges and universities nationwide.

Methodology and criteria were developed with the assistance of a national academic advisory committee consisting of educators and administrators from a variety of institutions including Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University, Old Dominion University, and Cleveland State University, among others.

Keystone College President Dr. Edward G. Boehm, Jr. said being included on the list for a third consecutive year verifies that Keystone continues to value its veteran students.

“Since its founding in 1868, Keystone College has been especially attentive to providing a quality education to men and women who have served our nation so admirably,” Dr. Boehm said. “That’s why we are honored to once again be named to this prestigious list of military friendly schools compiled by G.I. Jobs Magazine.”

A full story and detailed list of Military Friendly Schools will be highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools and on a commemorative poster, both of which will be distributed to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October. The list will also be included on the Military Friendly Schools website.

Keystone recently began its 2011-2012 academic year by welcoming 1,800 students, the largest enrollments in the college’s 143-year history. More than 500 students are living on campus, another school record.
