Keystone College is participating in the White House Healthy Campus Challenge to encourage individuals who do not currently have health insurance to acquire it through the federal health insurance Marketplace.
Open enrollment for the Marketplace began on Nov. 1. Anyone interested in learning more about the Marketplace or obtaining health insurance may visit www.healthcare.gov.
As part of the White House Healthy Campus Challenge, Keystone has scheduled several events to help educate the Keystone community and the public on the importance of acquiring health insurance for individuals and families who do not currently have it through employers or other sources.
Those events include:
Thursday, November 10, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. April Holgate, a Marketplace navigator from PA Access Health will visit the Keystone College Health Services Office in Tewksbury Hall to provide assistance to anyone considering purchasing insurance through the Marketplace. Ms. Holgate will also assist with Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicaid applications as well. Also, on Nov. 10, Keystone College Health Services will have Marketplace information available during a health wellness fair from 7-9 p.m. in Evans Hall in Hibbard Campus Center.
Monday, November 14, 7-9 p.m. Keystone College Health Services will sponsor an information table at the “Heroin Hits Home” presentation by Lackawanna County District Attorney Shane Scanlon. The table will include information on the Marketplace.
Monday, November 28, 10 a.m. -2 p.m. Dianna Ashford, a certified application counselor from Rural Health Corp. of NEPA, will visit Keystone College Health Services in Tewksbury Hall to assist with the Marketplace application process, as well as CHIP and Medicaid applications.

Monday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Representatives from the United Neighborhood Centers will be available at the Student Life Conference Room in Hibbard Campus Center to assist Spanish speaking and non-Spanish speaking members of the community with the Marketplace application process.
